Underground / overground.

Entrance to Stalingrad Métro station in Paris beneath the steel structure of the elevated Métro viaduct, with stairs, hanging lamps and passenger information signs.

Underground and overground meet at Stalingrad, where this Métro entrance emerges beneath the steel structure of the elevated lines. This entrance, with its heavy ironwork, hanging lamps and broad staircases, feels more like a small railway station than a typical Paris Metro stop.

Stalingrad is served by lines 2, 5 and 7, with lines 2 and 5 running overhead here on the old viaduct. It sits at the intersection of several vibrant neighborhoods and is just a short walk from the Bassin de la Villette and the Canal de l’Ourcq

Sunny day view of the above-ground Stalingrad Metro station in Paris, showing the impressive steel elevated tracks, classic Parisian buildings, and bustling street life with cyclists and pedestrians.

Great history of the station here.

Happy Monday everyone!

“Every journey begins somewhere — in Paris, it often begins underground.”
