Le Procope - a terrace with stories to tell.

Terrace of Le Procope on Rue de l'Ancienne Comédie, the historic café founded in 1686 in Paris.

Few terraces in Paris can match the history of Le Procope in the Latin Quarter . Founded in 1686 , it is widely regarded as the city's oldest café, welcoming everyone from Voltaire and Rousseau to Benjamin Franklin during the Age of Enlightenment.

Voltaire was said to drink astonishing quantities of coffee here, sometimes mixed with chocolate, as a fuel for his writing! Le Procope became the meeting place for writers, philosophers and revolutionaries, making it one of the birthplaces of Parisian café culture.

13 Rue de l'Ancienne Comédie, 6th arrondissement

“The terrace is where Paris breathes — unhurried, curious and endlessly alive.”
