Most people come here to the 16th arrondissement for the famous view toward the Eiffel Tower from the esplanade but here is the view looking the other way onto the centre of Place du Trocadéro with the equestrian statue of Marshal Ferdinand Foch. The square itself takes its name from the Battle of Trocadéro in 1823, when French forces captured the fort of Trocadéro near Cádiz in Spain.
