Windows & balconies of Paris...coping with the heat!

Haussmann apartment building on Rue Monge in Paris with open windows, closed shutters, lowered awnings and wrought-iron balconies beneath a clear blue summer sky.
On Rue Monge, the façades become a small study in how Paris copes with summer heat. Some shutters are tightly closed against the strongest sun, other windows stand wide open to catch whatever breeze might drift through the apartments, while awnings are lowered just enough to shade balconies filled with plants. Each window reflects a different moment of the day and a different strategy for living through the current temperatures.

On streets like Rue Monge,(5th) daily life still plays out window by window across the façades of the Latin Quarter.

Bon mercredi !

“Somehow, Paris always manages to be beautiful, even when it’s just quietly being itself.”
