Not the first station many people would mention when thinking about the Paris Métro, Censier-Daubenton quietly serves the Latin Quarter just beyond the busiest tourist routes. Around the station, everyday Paris unfolds at its own pace, cafés filling the corners of Place Monge while students, market shoppers (heading for Rue Mouffetard) and locals move through the streets of the 5th arrondissement.
The classic Art Nouveau Métro sign still gives the entrance a distinctly old Paris feel, even as the neighbourhood around it balances historic façades with the energy of nearby universities and markets. It may not have the fame of Saint-Michel or Abbesses but stations like Censier-Daubenton are often where Paris feels most naturally lived-in.
Tip:
One of the best stations for accessing Rue Mouffetard and also the Natural History Museum within Jardin des Plantes, if Line 7 is the nearest line to your accommodation
Happy Monday everyone!
