Windows and balconies — classic Paris elegance on Place Saint-Augustin

The impressive façade of the Cercle National des Armées on Place Saint-Augustin.

This grand neoclassical building, completed in 1927–1928 by architect Charles Henri-Camille Lemaresquier, features tall arched windows framed by elegant columns and ornate stone carvings. The upper level shows smaller rounded windows beneath a dark slate mansard roof, while statues and sculptural details add depth and character to the white stone façade.

A personal eye-catcher: the symmetrical play of arches, columns and balconies that gives the building such a balanced, harmonious presence right in the heart of the 8th arrondissement.

Practical tip: Located at 8 Place Saint-Augustin, the building is easy to reach near the Saint-Augustin metro station (Line 9). Walk around the square to admire the façade from different angles the nearby Église Saint-Augustin offers another beautiful contrast in styles.

Bon mercredi !

“Somehow, Paris always manages to be beautiful, even when it’s just quietly being itself.”
