On Boulevard Bourdon in the 4th Arrondissement, close to the Bassin de l'Arsenal and the Seine, elegant Parisian apartment buildings reveal their character above the tree line creating a façade that rewards anyone who takes the time to notice.
While the boulevard is a busy route between Bastille and the eastern edge of central Paris, its upper floors offer a quieter perspective. These details remind us that some of the city's finest architecture isn't found on famous monuments, but in the homes where generations of Parisians have lived.
Boulevard Bourdon was named after the nearby Arsenal de Paris, where artillery expert Jean Bourdon served during the 16th century. The boulevard later became part of Baron Haussmann's transformation of Paris in the 19th century, when broad, tree-lined avenues replaced many of the medieval streets. Today it forms part of the pleasant walk linking Bastille, the Port de l'Arsenal, and the Seine.
“Somehow, Paris always manages to be beautiful, even when it’s just quietly being itself.”
