On the terrace at Restaurant Dalea in Montparnasse, the usual Paris scene has acquired a distinctly tropical look, with straw parasols creating welcome shade against the current high temperatures.
There is something fitting about it. Paris cafés have always evolved with the seasons, and terraces remain one of the city’s unofficial living rooms. Here the relaxed setting briefly make Montparnasse feel a little further south than the 14th arrondissement.
“A Paris terrace is never just somewhere to sit, it’s a way of observing the city at its own pace.”
Part of the “On the Terraces of Paris” series
