Contemporary art on the streets of Paris

Crowds walking through illuminated streets in Paris during Nuit Blanche with colourful projected artworks covering historic buildings at night.

Paris has always liked to stay awake for culture but Nuit Blanche turns that idea into an event. For one night each year, streets, museums, monuments and unexpected corners become part of a city-wide contemporary art experience, inviting people to wander rather than simply visit.

This year, the 2026 edition (the 25th) will take place tonight, June 6th into Sunday.

This year carries extra resonance as Nuit Blanche marks its 25th anniversary edition, celebrating a quarter-century of transforming Paris after dark. In this scene, projections spill across historic façades while crowds move through the night as if the city itself has become the gallery.

The idea behind Nuit Blanche is simple and distinctly Parisian: contemporary art should step outside formal spaces and meet people where they already are, on the streets. That is perhaps why the event has endured, becoming one of those nights when Paris feels less observed and more alive.

“The streets of Paris are best explored without hurry — they reveal themselves only to the unhurried.”
