Avenue de Camoëns is barely 115 metres long, but it has one of the most recognisable views of the Eiffel Tower. Created in 1904, the avenue takes its name from Luís de Camões, Portugal's great 16th-century poet. Its double flight of steps drops about ten metres to Boulevard Delessert, creating the elevated viewpoint seen here.
The Eiffel Tower itself was only about 15 years old when the avenue was laid out, but today the two seem almost designed for one another. Even the Eiffel Tower's official website singles out Avenue de Camoëns as one of the less well-known places in the 16th arrondissement for photographing the Tower.
