This wide, leafy boulevard, created by Haussmann in the 1850s and named after cotton industrialists, stretches over the hidden Canal Saint-Martin, from Bastille to République. A lone bench under tall trees, late afternoon light, gentle shadows stretching across the pavement. Movement exists (cyclists, walkers), but the bench represents stillness, an invitation to sit, breathe, and observe.
Bon dimanche à tous ! Have a peaceful Sunday, everyone.
“Paris has many views — but the one from a Sunday bench might be the most honest.”
Part of the “Mon Banc Dominical” Series
Each Sunday, we find a quiet corner of Paris — a bench, a park, a view — and let the city breathe for a while.
