The Jardin des Tuileries looks rather different under a grey sky. The light is softer, the colours more muted and the Louvre takes on a slightly different character across the formal gardens.
It is still a good place to take a break and wander, with the long avenues, fountains and sculptures giving plenty to look at as you make your way between the Louvre and Place de la Concorde and with free admission throughout the year, there is no need to wait for ideal conditions.
