Plain & simple - Mon Banc Dominical — Rue des Petits-Champs

There is nothing particularly grand about this stretch of Rue des Petits-Champs, and that is rather the point. A Paris street, a bench, a few minutes to sit down and watch the city go by.

Rue des Petits-Champs crosses the 1st and 2nd arrondissements between Rue de la Banque and Avenue de l'Opéra. The street dates from 1634, when it was opened through former marshland and market gardens during the development of the area around the Palais-Cardinal, the predecessor of today's Palais-Royal. Its name recalls the small fields that once occupied this part of Paris.

There is plenty to explore along its 450 metres today, including the Galerie Vivienne, the Richelieu site of the Bibliothèque nationale de France and the Passage Choiseul.
