Laumière station in the 19th arrondissement is one of those metro stops that feels unmistakably local. Sitting on the edge of the Bassin de la Villette and just a short walk from the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont , it serves a neighborhood where cafés, tree-lined streets and canals encourage visitors to slow their pace.
Today's view captures the familiar Art Nouveau-style Métro sign, still welcoming passengers more than a century after the station first opened.
Just a few minutes from Laumière station is the Bassin de la Villette , the largest artificial body of water in Paris. Every summer it becomes the center of Paris Plages , with kayaking, paddleboarding and waterside activities transforming this once-industrial canal basin into an urban beach. It's also a convenient stop for visitors heading to the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie , Europe's largest science museum, located just beyond the Bassin in Parc de la Villette.
