Sometimes there is no need for a bench...

People relaxing on the grass beside the lake at Parc des Buttes-Chaumont in Paris beneath trees and dramatic rocky cliffs on a sunny spring afternoon.

A Sunday in Paris does not always require a bench. On the grass beneath the trees at Parc des Buttes-Chaumont blankets replace benches, conversations drift lazily across the lawns and the rocky cliffs and temple feel almost theatrical against the spring sky.

Designed in the 19th century from an abandoned quarry, Buttes-Chaumont remains one of Paris's most dramatic parks, though on warm weekends it belongs to the local picnickers and daydreamers stretched out beside the lake below.

Happy Sunday everyone! Have a peaceful day, everyone.

Paris has many views — but the one from a Sunday bench might be the most honest.”
