Today’s terrace is Le Café des Anges on Rue de la Roquette (11th), currently the subject of a painting on show at the Petit Palais as part of the Bilal Hamdad exhibition. A familiar corner of Paris, captured both in life and on canvas.
Hamdad’s Le Café des Anges is a homage to the city’s everyday poetry, a crowd of familiar figures, drinkers, smokers, even a weary dog, turns into a living tableau of Paris.
“A Paris terrace can embody the essence of Parisian life.”
Part of the “Terraces of Paris” Series
Every Thursday we take a virtual seat on one of Paris’s many terraces — those open-air stages where the city writes its daily stories.
