In the heart of the Latin Quarter lies a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it little street: Rue du Chat-qui-Pêche, or 'Street of the Fishing Cat.' At just 1.80 metres wide (and not very long), it proudly holds the title of the narrowest street in Paris. Built in 1540, this tiny passageway connects the bustling Quai Saint-Michel to the lively Rue de la Huchette but step into it and you feel miles away from the chaos.
Interestingly, this little lane hasn't always carried its whimsical name. It was once called Rue du Renard ("Street of the Fox") and went by other names as the city expanded and evolved over the centuries.
