Looking out onto the Hôtel des Sociétés Savantes (Maison de la recherche) on rue Danton an annex of the University of Paris IV–Sorbonne in the 6th.
The Astronomical Society of France, founded by Camille Flammarion (1887-1889) built an astronomical observatory with two domes which occupied the entire upper floor of building.
