Saturday on the streets of Paris...Rue Traversière.

Today we’re on Rue Traversière, a quiet thread through the 12 e that carries more history than its calm surface suggests. Once used by gardeners and craftsmen, it still feels like a working street, lived in, unpolished, unmistakably Paris. At night streetlights warm the cobbles leading to the arch of the Viaduc des Arts which glows softly at the far end. Rue Traversière isn’t a place of grand gestures it reveals itself slowly, step by step, the way the best Parisian streets do. On the other end of the arch the street crosses over Avenue Daumesnil before doing a strange dogleg before continuing onto Rue de Lyon and ulitmately the station itself. One unusual feature of this part of the street is the discreet 'back door' (seen on the right above) to the church of Saint-Antoine des Quinze-Vingts which has its main entrance on the parallel running Av. On the Streets of Paris, rue Poulbot in Montmartre.

Rue Poulbot, Montmartre, cafés spilling onto the cobbles beneath a clear Paris sky. T ucked away on the slopes of Montmartre, is a street that still feels closely tied to its past. Small cafés line the cobbles, chairs edging toward the roadway, as locals and visitors pass through at an unhurried pace. The street takes its name from Francisque Poulbot, the illustrator whose affectionate drawings of working-class Parisian children became widely known in the early twentieth century. Those children came to be called poulbots , a word that remains closely linked with Montmartre’s popular history. Windows & Balconies of Paris, on Rue Boursault.

Interesting building at No7 Rue Boursault in the 17th arrondissement which seems to be a slice of what was a more substantial building. The fact that it overlooks the train tracks at the exit of Saint-Lazare station gives us a clue. The street actually starts at No7 as 1 to 5 were demolished after a railway accident in the Batignolles tunnel in 1921.
